Christie Maturo grew up in central New Jersey, and as a child split her time between trips into New York City and walking the boardwalk “down the Jersey shore.” She now holds a BS in theatre and sign language from Towson University, a secondary English teaching credential from CSUB, spent a summer studying with the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia, and has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from NIU. She is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory program, and a certified Meisner teacher from True Acting Institute, as well as with National Michael Chekhov Association. Christie is also a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
Christie enjoys all aspect of performing, but specializes in character acting, physical comedy, and improvisation.
As a Meisner trained actor, Christie strives to live truthfully in each moment of performance. She is well versed in dialect work, heightened text, and various style work from the Elizabethans through the 20th century. Her movement work is routed in the Alexander Technique, Williamson, and Chekhov. She also has interests in voice over work, teaching, directing, and producing. Currently, Christie is an Associate Professor or Theatre at Central Connecticut State University.
